Masterclass with Max Stewart

Updated: May 22, 2020

Inspirations from the Masterclass with Max Stewart at Wolverhampton University, UK, 19th-22th August 2019.

Aim of the class was to understand Pate-de-Verre-techniques invented and used by the French glass artist Amalric Walter (1870-1959). Walter's work stands out because of his work with coloured glass powder which he skillfully added to the moulds of the objects to be cast before adding the crushed glass to form the volume of the cast piece. This is a very time-consuming process which also requires quite a lot of material. The frog that I made during this class was actually the biggest glass piece I had ever made.
