Masterclass with Peter Bauhuis

Inspirations from the class with Peter Bauhuis (Germany, September 4-8 2018) who is best known for his cast vessels from various silver alloys.

Aim of the class was to get an overview over the casting of metal, in particular the work with a vacuum casting device. The class took place in Peter's workshop in Munich.

Casting metal objects usually starts by making a master from wax which, after steaming out, forms the core of a refractory plaster mould. The desired alloy is then calculated, melted and poured into the pre-heated and vacuumed mould.
